TOGETHER WE WIN

2021 SPECIALIZED
FACTORY RACING

Cross-country racing. It’s in our blood, an obsession. We won the very first UCI Mountain Bike World Championship in 1990 with Ned Overend and Jaroslav Kulhavy rode his Epic to Olympic Gold in 2012. Our rich history includes multiple world titles, countless World Cup victories, and a million backyard KOMs. In 2021, we’re looking forward to building on that storied history with what may be our strongest Specialized Factory Racing line up ever.

With a simple goal—develop the next generation of XC champions while winning championships today—we’ve built a team with young talents like Laura Stigger and Sina Frei, while chasing World Cup victories with Gerhard Kerschbaumer, and defending rainbow stripes with the new World Champion, 28-year-old Jordan Sarrou.

It’s athletes like these that have always inspired our engineers and designers to push limits, to create FSR and Brain technology, and deliver the fastest race bikes on the planet. “Specialized Factory Racing is and has always been an integral part of product development at Specialized. There is no doubt that the energy and excitement around the 2021 team roster will motivate and inspire us to push the limits of product innovation in every aspect,” says Epic Product Manager, Brian Gordon. This is what we mean when we say Innovate or Die.

Some of Jordan’s first races as a young junior were won on a Specialized and for 2021, we’re proud to have him on our Factory Racing Team. With the rainbow stripes on his shoulders, Jordan has his sights set firmly on Olympic gold in Tokyo. “It’s a big motivation for me and I’m very excited to ride for Specialized. They are the best brand for mountain biking and cycling, so it’s a huge excitement for me to join the family now,” says Jordan.

Jordan’s toughest competition may be his own new teammate, former Italian National Champion, Gerhard Kerschbaumer. ‘Geri’, as his teammates call him, has set his sights on the 2021 World Title, which will be contested in Val di Sole, Italy. “I come from a very small setup and having all of this support is very exciting for me. I never had a soigneur or a personal mechanic before and I need to get used to having access to all of this new information and product.

Joining Jordan and Geri are two of the most talented young riders in the world, with plenty of their own time in rainbow stripes—23-year-old former U23 World Champion Sina Frei, and 20-year-old Laura Stigger, a former junior World Champ

2021 will be a new chapter in Specialized’s long history of cross-country racing and we look forward to telling the story of these amazing athletes all season long. They’ll be racing at the front and we’ll be busy making the bikes and equipment that help them get there. Together we win.
